The Gardening Season

Gets In To Gear This Month - and so should YOU!

Hello All!

I must start by saying what a wonderful weekend it was down the plot. So many people getting back to the soil. we were blessed with the weather too. They say that the cold snap maybe behind us now - fingers crossed. I lost a great variety of seedlings i raised in my propagator at home, i left them out whilst i went away for the weekend and when i returned - they had needed a blanket. They were no more - deep sadness.  If you get a chance make the time to walk around the site and look at spring coming to life. There are some wonderful bulbs. Have a chat with your fellow Gardener and av a cup of tea.

There will be some volunteers down the allotment at the weekends to do some tidying up of communal areas. If anybody is free to give a hand, it would be much appreciated. Jobs - Painting, Pressure washing areas, Sweeping, Gardening jobs. Sorting brown Bins and more. Hope to see you there!

HHCAA -

Get ahead and...

Sow lettuce, summer cabbage and cauliflowers, plus round varieties of carrots, spinach, salad onions and turnips.

Germination temperatures of around 13 °C are adequate so a windowsill is fine to get these seeds going.

Seedlings will need to be pricked out intrays and potted on before putting out under cloches or in cold frames in February.

Greenhouse tomatoes are very reliable plant for the kids to grow now
